Member Price: $105.00 Family Boot Camp

This class promotes proper movement patterns, high intensity exercise and family togetherness. Basic moves using body weight, TRX Suspension Training, kettlebells, and more are incorporated into class keeping it fun and fresh each week. Class is open to all fitness levels ages 8 and up. Member Price: $75.00  / Non-Member Price: $85.00 NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING SERVICES WITH ELIZABETH (BETSEY) MIKULEC, MA, RD

Betsey Mikulec is a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist. Betsey is the former Chief Dietitian at  Beaumont Weight Control Center. She teaches Nutrition and Food Science classes at Oakland University and also writes a weekly column for the Detroit News called Cooking with Kids. Betsey offers individual nutrition counseling at GLAC, providing clients privacy and accountability to get you on the right track. Nutrition counseling is a great option for anyone looking to improve eating habits and gain control of their health.

Whether you have lifted weights for years or are new to the gym floor, Pure Power will motivate and energize you by producing the results you have been striving for. Trainer Earl Hook uses cross training methods derived from body building, power lifting, olympic lifting, plyometrics and aerobic activity, to name a few. The coaching techniques provided in this program will generate excitement and give you a new perspective on weight training.

This senior friendly class includes basic excercises to strengthen the legs, core, and shoulders. Focus is on controlled, non-ballistic movements, balance training, and flexibility work. The TRX suspension trainer allows you to use your body weight and basic physics to modify excersises to your desired intensity.

Member Price: $70.00 Tabata

What can you do in 4 minutes? Increase your anaerobic capacity and VO2 max using the Tabata Protocol! This half hour class makes an excellant compliment to your workout schedule. We'll take you through a dynamic warm up and stretch followed by Tabata Intervals. Class ends with gentle stretching and/or foam rolling to help you recover. Train during your lunch hour or before or after work and check it off your to-do list!

The focus is not on the exterior package, but on the framework that creates a strong, balanced individual. Our workouts include strength training, conditioning, SMR and flexibility, mind body connection and fueling the body for ultimate performance. Throughout the program you will become stronger in body, mind and spirit.

VS is a complete 12 week program. We understand the demand  of your world and have designed a program to meet the needs of athletes with careers, families and lives outside the gym. We expect dedication and will only accept those who commit to full participation. We offer the option of training 1-5 days per week to accomodate your schedule. Those who train less frequently will be provided with a plan for self guided workouts on off days. The kettlebell adds an element of instability to your workout due to the shape of the bell. The foundational movements challenge the hips and core to increase strength, power, and body awareness. Kettlebell training is efficient in that it challenges the cardiovascular and neuromuscular systems together. Kettlebell training can help you achieve goals of weight loss, cardiovascular conditioning, strength and power. Classes may also include use of TRX Suspension Training, body weight conditioning or other modes of training.

Member Price: $210.00 Butts and Gutts

Gutts & Butts is a high energy, small group conditioning class focusing on training core muscles and glutes. This intense sculpting series, led by Personal Trainer Paulette Belanger, will target those trouble areas; abs, lower back, glutes and hamstrings. Paulette will lead you through a combination of high intensity cardio drills, body weight movements and resistance work, including TRX suspension training to give you the tight, toned body you are striving for.

Working with a trainer is a great way to keep your commitment to fitness! Core and More Conditioning incorporates the latest training techniques to help you achieve real results. Your trainer will design routines to challenge you beyond your self imposed limits, including free weights, cardiovascular conditioning , balance and flexibility work, and much much more! Minimum of 4 participants per group.

GLAC Personal Trainer and former Division I athlete Stephanie Murdock is available for private and semi-private volleyball instruction and conditioning. Train your core like never before!  Suspension training challenges the body in several different planes of motion and can be adapted to each individual's needs.  Generating power from the hips and torso trains you body to perform at a higher level during athletics as well as during everyday activities.  Your flexibility will also improve as you work through your full range of motion.  Minimum of 3 per class and maximum of 6. Member Price: $200.00  / Non-Member Price: $225.00 Combat Conditioning With Doug Bercume

Train like a combat athlete with Doug Bercume.  Performance Coach Doug Bercume is the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Warrior Way Martial Arts Alliance where he oversees all aspects of the Professional and Amatuer MMA, Braziliam Jiujitsu, and the Muay Thai Fighters.  This program will include high intensity condintioning that Doug uses to train professional Mixed Martial Arts Fighters, Members of the U.S. Navy Seals, Israeli Commando, FBI, and State and Local Law Enforcement.  Some of Doug's MMA athletes have competed in the UFC, Pride Fighting Championships, and the King of The Cage.  In addition he will teach the basics of Krav Maga self defense, including basic combatives (kicks, punches, elbows, knees, etc.) release from holds, ground fighting, abduction and assualt avoidance.  Krav Maga has been adopted worldwide as the most efficient, practical and adaptable self defense system and can be taught to people of all sizes, ages, and abilities.  Days and Times to be announced.

Time to get ready for the beach and ditch the cover-up for good!  If you are looking to get into top shape and lose all of the holiday pounds, this class is for you.  Whether you are looking to shape up for spring break or get ready for summer, Bikini Boot Camp has it all.  Taught by personal trainer Jessica Vettraino, this class will include hard-core workouts twice a week, cardio, homework and a nutritional plan.

 

Department Policies:

  • All training must be paid for prior to your training session.
  • When checking in, please advise the front desk personnel you are here for training and specify which trainer.
  • Your appointment is scheduled for a specific time. Each session is designed for 55 or 30 minutes. Please arrive on time since your session will run within the time slot reserved. (Example: if your time is 3:00 and you are late, your session will end at 3:55).
  • Any sessions you wish to cancel must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not show up for a lesson or less than a 24 hour notice is given, Great Lakes Athletic Club reserves the right to collect payment for that session.
  • All trainers will respect your schedule, including giving you as much notice as possible if they need to change your time. If a trainer is not here for your appointment, please contact the Personal Training Director and restitution will be made.
  • Any training sessions purchased are non-refundable.
  • Personal Training sessions are purchased from Great Lakes Athletic Club, not from individual trainers. All sessions are transferable between trainers.
  • All Unused personal training sessions will expire one year from date of purchase.
