Activities for all ages:

Children 3-12 months will have 2 hours of uninterrupted fun in our Infant Room. The room is equipped with all the comforts of home such as swings, bouncers, bouncy seats, play pen, etc. Please note that reservations are required for this age group. Parents may reserve space up to 48 hours in advance.

For toddlers (1-2.5 years) we have a puppet theatre, tables and chairs, and all kinds of toys.

For big kids (2.5-5 years) our main area is equipped with a big screen TV and large video and movie library. There are also craft times when kids will make seasonal projects and color pictures for parents. For active kids we have a foosball table and two-story Play Maze with tunnels and slide.

For the really big kids (ages 8-11) we've got a computer area with 5 state-of-the-art Apple computers loaded with fun educational games/activities, plus an X-Box! These kids can also use the Play Maze or play foosball.

1. What are the Child Center Hours?

8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Friday, Saturday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

2. How do I make an Infant Reservation?

Call GLAC Child Center at (248) 393-3085 ext.200. Child Center Staff will take the reservation day and time.

3. What is the duration of time that my child can stay in the Child Center?

Children ages 1 - 11 have a 2 1/2 hour time limit
Infants ages 3 mos. - 12 mos. have a 2 hour limit

4. What is the procedure for dropping my child off in the Child Center?

Members will need to have their member card or drivers license (some sort of photo i.d.)
Child Center Desk person will then take the members' information from the member in regards to where the member will be working out and get the child's name and age.
Child will wear a sticker on their back with their name, age, and parent's member number.

5. Who can drop off and pick up my child in the Cild Center?

Only the parent or legal guardian can drop off their child in the Child Center.
Same parent or legal guardian that drops off must be the same that picks up.
No, a member cannot bring in a child that is not their own child by birth or legal guardianship.

6. Is food or snacks allowed in the Child Center?

No. Due to children with severe allergic reactions to certain food groups, water is the only thing that is allowed in a sippy cup, bottle or sport bottle.
Babies in the infant room can have a bottle of milk, breast milk, or formula.

7. Are toddlers and older children kept in different areas?

Yes, a toddler room is available for children ages 1-2 years old.
Infant room is available for children 3 months to 1 year.

8. What is the ratio of staff to children?

For infants, 1:4
For children, 1:12

9. Is the Child Care Center a licensed Day Care?

No. We are considered a short term child care provider. The duration of time the child is in our care is limited to 2 1/2 hours. We are more like a glorified baby sitter. However, Oakland County has approved our facility and meet their criteria as a child care provider.

10. What are the qualifications of the staff that work in the Child Care Center?

Child Care Staff must go through a interview process, background checks, CPR and First Aid Training, Customer Service training, and Child Care education.

11. What is the cleaning and sanitation process in the Child Center?

Our center is cleaned a minimum of twice a day (at least once at 11 a.m. and once at close). We also do periodic spot cleanings of the bathrooms, and other areas that need our attention. The products that we use are all child safe.

12. Do you change diapers?

No. For the safety of your children, parents are responsible for changing diapers. Diaper stations are located in the infant room and in the adult bathroom in the Child Center.

13. What is the process for handling a crying baby/child?

If a child cannot be comforted within a ten-minute period, parents will be notified to come to the child center. Our staff will make every effort to comfort your child.

14. What type of disciplinary actions do you take in the Child Center?

Time-outs will be used to address behavioral problems for children older than 2 years. Redirection will be used for children younger than 2 years.

15. Are toys/games from home allowed to be in the Child Center?

Preferably, comfort items such as blankets, teddy bears, pacifiers are welcome. Small hand held games are allowed at the members risk; we are not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items.
