GLAC POLICIES
Guest Policies:
Guest Fee: $20.00 per person.
To insure the availability of all Great Lakes Athletic Club's facilities for it's members, all non-members, regardless of age or type of facility use (including child care), are required to pay a guest fee. Guests must register at the front desk with a valid identification, and complete and sign the guest registration form. Any guest under the age if 18 is required to have a parent or legal Guardian present to sign a waiver of liability. All guests must abide by all Great Lakes Athletic Club's policies and procedures.
Member grandparents may bring member grandchildren during family hours at no charge. They may not check them into child care. All policies apply.
Members and Non-Members
Age 18 or Older:
Member: Full access to all areas.
Non-Member:
- Pay Guest Fee per person.
- Full Access to all areas.
- To use the child care, a guest fee must also be paid for the child(ren).
Age 15 - 17:
Member: Full access to all areas without a parent present.
Non-Member:
- Pay guest fee per person.
- Must be signed in at front desk by parent or legal guardian.
- Parent is NOT REQUIRED to stay in building.
Age 12 - 14:
Member: Parent/guardian must sign Youth Fitness Waiver to assign areas of the club that the child may use without parent being present.
- Red Level - access to: cardio room, basketball/volleyball courts, racquetball/squash courts, track and pool.
- Yellow Level - access to: cardio room, basketball/volleyball courts, racquetball/squash courts, track, pool; group fitness classes, and the second floor weight machine area.
- Green Level - access to: cardio room, basketball/volleyball courts, racquetball/squash courts, track, pool; group fitness classes, and the second floor weight machine area, and the first floor free weight area.
Non-Member:
- Pay Guest Fee per person.
- Must be signed in at front desk by parent or legal guardian.
- Parent/guardian must sign Youth Fitness Waiver to assign areas of the club that the child may use (see above for description of levels).
- Parent is NOT REQUIRED to stay in the building.
Age 3 Months - 11 Years:
Member:
- May use indoor pool and courts during specified family hours, parent must be at arms length or Child must wearing a swim band.
- The parent or legal guardian must be present at all times.
- Use of Child Center.
Non-Member:
- Pay Guest Fee per person.
- The parent or legal guardian must be present at all times.
- May utilize outdoor and indoor pool during family hours and specified courts during family hours.
- May use child center.

Member to Member Privilege Only:
Adult Member (18 years or over) with a Minor Child
At the time of check-in, present the Liability Waiver for Minor Children (11-under) to the Front Desk. Waiver must be signed by parent/legal guardian and delegated member in charge before admittance to the club. The delegated member must be 18 years or older.
The following guidelines also apply:
- Caregiver may use the outdoor pool and the indoor pool during family hours and specified courts during family hours.
- Caregiver must stay with child at all times.
- Caregiver may not check the child into child care center.
Pool Policies:
- For yours and others safety, admittance to the pool may be refused for the following reasons:
- Infectious or communicable diseases.
- Infectious conditions, such as cold, open wounds or blisters.
- Under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.
- Any persons in the opinion of the aquatic supervision, whose admittance would be detrimental to the operation and safety of the pool.
- Children under twelve (12) years of age will not be admitted into the pool area unless accompanied by a parent/legal guardian or someone that has been designated by the delegation of parental powers.
- Babies under 3 months of age are not allowed in the pool or on the pool decks.
- Proper swim attire:
- Lined swim suits (no exposed metal buckles, zippers, etc.).
- Thongs are prohibited.
- No jean shorts in the water.
- T-shirts must be clean 50/50 cotton/poly blend.
- Children of toilet training age must wear aqua diapers. The locker rooms are to be used for changing diapers; no changing diapers on deck.
General Pool Rules: Follow Instruction of lifeguards on duty!
- GLAC Management has the right to remove members and guests from the pool for misbehavior.
- Parent / Guardians are required to be in the water and in arms reach of children under the age of 12 who can not pass the swim test. GLAC offers two levels of swim tests:
- Orange Swim Band (play pool only): Child must be able to swim/tread the width of the pool and back to pass this level.
- Purple Swim Band (lap and play pool): Child must be able to swim/tread the length of a lap lane and back to pass this level.

- Children under the age 12 can not be left in pool area unsupervised.
- Everyone is required to take a shower before entering the pool.
- No running allowed on deck areas and/or in locker rooms.
- Street shoes are not allowed on deck or in pools.
- Only use of lifeguard approved lifesaving devices allowed. No water wings permitted.
- Weak swimmers are recommended to stay in shallow water only.
- Lap swimming only in lap lane.
- Hanging, standing or sitting on lane lines or dividing ropes is not allowed.
- Obey no diving signs. Feet first entry in 5 feet or less water depth.
- No spitting in, spouting of pool water.
- Rough housing is not allowed (dunking, chicken fighting, back riding, splashing, etc).
- Food items are only allowed in the designated food areas (fenced-in picnic tables - outdoor pool). Food will be available for purchase through Cafe Vitality.
- Glass, breakable, and/or hazardous objects are not permitted.
- Strollers and car seats are not permitted on pool deck. Designated stroller parking area is available when using the outdoor pool.
- Smoking is not allowed on property.
- Pet or animals, except for trained guide dog accompanying a person who has a disability, is not permitted in the swimming pool enclosure. A guide dog is not permitted in the pool.

Outdoor Pool Policies
- Safety/spot checks will be done every 50 minutes. At this time all members must exit the pool and remain out of the water until the "all clear" is given by the lifeguards (approximately 10 minutes).
- GLAC reserves the right to shut down the pool when the outdoor temperature is below 70 degrees or when there are poor weather conditions. If the outside temperature is under 70 prior to opening in the morning, the outdoor pool will remain closed.

Thunder in the area: Members will be informed of the potential weather situation and GLAC staff will be on the lookout for any lightening strikes.

Lightening Strikes Sighted: Outdoor pool deck will be cleared immediately. Outdoor pool will remain closed for 20 minutes after the last strike is sighted. The indoor pool will remain open for Junior Members if weather occurs during designated family hours. If weather occurs during the non-family hours, the indoor pool will be opened only if available - i.e., no Learn to Swim, Group Fitness classes or swim team practices being held.

Tornado Watch: If the National Weather Service issues a Tornado Watch, GLAC staff will inform all members and will continue to monitor the situation.

Tornado Warning: In the event that the National Weather Service elevates the watch to a Tornado Warning, the pool deck will be cleared immediately and the GLAC staff will instruct members where to go for safety.
Waterslide Rules
- Must pass an orange or purple swim test and be at least 42" tall.
- Must pass the swim test if under 12 years old.
- Follow instructions of the dispatch guard. Riders must wait for start signal.
- Swimwear with exposed metal zippers, buckles, etc. is not permitted on slide.
- Eyeglasses, sunglasses or goggles may not be on face while go down the slide.
- One person at a time on slide.
- You may only ride down the slide feet first and on your back.
- Keep arms and hands inside the flume of the slide at all times.
- Swimming not permitted in the slide zone.
- Persons may not catch slider in slide zone.
- After riding down the slide you must immediately exit the pool using the ladder.
