Great Lakes Athletic Club offers a variety of Birthday Party options! You can choose from a two or three hour party available on Saturday and Sundays at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. All parties include the use of the bounce house and gym floor with gym games, use of the pool and/or the Rockwall. Parties also include set up, clean up and supervision by enthusiastic GLAC staff members. Pizza, beverages, paper products and invitations are also provided. Ages 5 - 11.

This Parent Tot sports class will help children become familiar with and comfortable in a gym setting with other children. Simple sports skills will be introduced such as running, hopping, dribbling and shooting in a fun, enjoyable sporting environment.

Caren Otto is a certified teacher in both general education and special education. Caren is an Educational Specialist with her own consulting business who will directly support students in a 1 hour tutoring session. We developed our new Xplosive Athlete program which is now offered at Great Lakes Athletic Club based on our unique training philosophy of developing the overall athleticism of each athlete. Athleticism is a combination of strength, power, coordination, flexibility, balance, agility, reactive ability and energy system development. You will run faster, jump higher, kick harder, throw further, cut quicker and hit harder if these attributes are properly addressed.
This program is not designed to make a person a better football or basketball player, but rather make you a better athlete.

JAT is an age-appropriate program based on our training philosophy of training the complete athlete. JAT is designed to complement the natural developmental process toward adulthood. We consider several factors including the athletes physical size, bone maturity, neuromuscular maturity and emotional maturity. We understan, develop and instruct based on teh individual maturation timeline of each young athlete, ensuring a safe, effective and beneficial program and optimal performance.

The Competitive Athlete Training program is dedicated to training athletes to maximize performace and potential, increase self-esteem, gain atheltic competence, minimize injuries and develop a lifelong commitment to fitness.

Introducing the new Xplosive Athlete SSCT training programs. High intensity, 4 week programs of focused training that demands 100% effort. You will train two days per week for a single, specific goal. This program will feature the latest and proven techniques to help you attain your individual goal.

Power is the combination of speed and strength. We teach proper form and technique with rest periods and tempo training to provide a true gain in playing performance.

Four dedicated weeks of developing straight ahead and lateral speed, agility and foot quickness.

We use a combination of Plyometric training and Power training to develop your sport and position specific jumping ability.

All movement initiates and returns to the juncture point of the upper and lower torso. We spend four weeks developing your ability to control, balance and movewith proper loading and unloading forces.
XPLOSIVE ENERGY SYSTEM TRAINING $175/Person
Every sport or event requires a certain amount of energy based on the intensity and duration. We develop a training program for you based on your position and sport. Includes nutritional planning for optimal performance.
ERIE - Beginning Swimmers Ages 8 and Under
Prerequisite: Must be able to complete a 25 meter swim.
The Erie group is geared for swimmers who love the water but may not have swim team experience. Coaches will concentrate on body position and breathing technique for all four competitive strokes.

HURON - Intermediate Swimmers Ages 7 - 12
The Huron group will work on developing all four competitive strokes, starts, and turns. They will also work on becoming a competitive swimmer.

The Michigan group will continue their development of the four competitive strokes and perfecting their racing techniques. They will also be encouraged to develop higher levels of competitive drive.

Prerequisite: Must have participated on a High School team

This season the Navigators are part of the Rochester Area Swim League and will participate in at least five league meets as well as a final meet at Oakhurst Country Club.
GLAC is proud to annouce that Paul Fairman and Greg Palmer will once again be coaching the Navigators. Paul, the team's head coach, coaches the Lake Orion High School Boy's Swim Team during the winter. Greg, the team's assistant coach, coaches the Waterford High School Girl's and Boy's teams. Both bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience!
The Navigator season will start June 7 and end approximately July 30. Beginning the week of June 7, practices will be Monday and Wednesday evenings from 8:00pm - 9:30pm. After school is out for the summer, practices will be held in the morning Monday through Friday.
The Navigators will be divided into four different groups.

This art has evolved into one of the most effective means of unarmed self defense ever created. Instructor Floyd Soo has been involved in martial arts since 1967. He holds a fifth degree black belt (Master Instructor Rating) in Moo Duk Kwan-Tang Soo Do.
This class meets on Monday and Wednesday.
Parent or Legal Guardian must accompany any child under 12 years old to class and stay in the building while the class is in session.

Betsey Mikulec is a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist. Betsey is the former Chief Dietitian at Beaumont Weight Control Center. She teaches Nutrition and Food Science classes at Oakland University and also writes a weekly column for the Detroit News called Cooking with Kids. Betsey offers individual nutrition counseling at GLAC, providing clients privacy and accountability to get you on the right track. Nutrition counseling is a great option for anyone looking to improve eating habits and gain control of their health.

New at GLAC! The kettlebell adds an element of instability to your workout due to the shape of the bell. The foundational movements challenge the hips and core to increase strength, power, and body awareness. Kettlebell training is efficient in that it challenges the cardiovascular and neuromuscular systems together. Kettlebell training can help you achieve goals of weight loss, cardiovascular conditioning, strength and power. Classes may also include use of TRX Suspension Training, body weight conditioning or other modes of training.

Train your core like never before! Suspension training challenges the body in several different planes of motion and can be adapted to each individual's needs. Generating power from the hips and torso trains you body to perform at a higher level during athletics as well as during everyday activities. Shapedown is a weight management program for children (6 - 18) and their families. Under the guidance of a licensed dietician, exercise physiologist and a social worker, families will learn about healthy eating, an active lifestyle and effective communication skills. The 10-week program will promote weight loss and family unity. This is a St. Joseph Mercy Oakland directed program sponsored by Great Lakes Athletic Club.

Are you ready for GLAC School's Out Camp? At camp the children will enjoy time playing sports, swimming, rock climbing, crafts, and most importantly, having fun and making new friends. Bring a swim suit, towel, water bottle and a sack lunch.
Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

DAILY LUNCH
$5 per day
Cafe Vitality would like to make your camp experience more enjoyable by offering a meal choice for your children each and every day of camp. The daily lunch price is $5 and will be collected each morning along with the lunch order form at the camp registration desk.
EXTENDED CHILD CARE (Ages 5 - 12)
Pre-Care: $5 per day
Post-Care: $5 per day
Great Lakes Athletic Club would like to offer extended care for campers before and after camp. You must pre-register for extended care. If there is no registration, a fee of $15 will be charged for the first 5 to 15 minutes that a parent or legal guardian is late and $1 per minute thereafter. The late pick-up fee must be collected by GLAC at pick-up or before the next day of camp.
